Engineers Week in 2014 is from 16-22 February. The dates have been chosen to include the day George Washington, Engineer and 1st USA President, was born (22 February). At the national level, Engineers Week is sponsored by the National Engineers Week Foundation, a formal coalition of more than 100 professional societies, major corporations, and government agencies. The Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies (HCES) has been in existence since 1965. It is an umbrella organization for the engineering societies in Hawaii with seventeen member organizations to include EAH. Part of the charter is to stimulate qualified students in public and private schools to enter engineering and related sciences as their life work. Please visit http://www.hces.us/eweek.html for the complete list of events highlighted below:
Engineers Week – the only event of its kind – is a celebration of engineers and their remarkable achievements in improving the daily lives of people throughout the world. It serves to both raise public awareness of engineers' contributions to society and foster an appreciation for their problem solving skills and spirit of innovation. By increasing an understanding of, and interest in, engineering and careers in technology among students, it hopes to ensure a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce. In addition, it aims to promote pre-college literacy in math and science.

Teachers and students, enjoy the experience embodied in the challenge. For teachers there is low overhead and effort to have your students participate. Some key common core science and English standards are embodied in the contest in measurable ways. Students exercise broad discretion in what they present.
